Welcome to the MutatedBacon's
Music Identification Blogs!

Hello! I'm MutatedBacon, real first name Ryan.

These are blogs dedicated to listing the stock production music used in the 2005 Cartoon Network show Camp Lazlo and the Nintendo VHS tapes.

Here is the story of how I started my blogs:

I've always been a big fan of both animation, and music. I grew up watching Nicktoons and Cartoon Network. and SpongeBob SquarePants, The Ren & Stimpy Show, The Simpsons, Regular Show, and Smiling Friends are some of my favorite animated shows. I'm even a fan of Newgrounds animators such as Oney, psychicpebbles, Spazkid, Harry Partridge, Zeurel, and a bunch of others. I've also been into music for as long as I can remember since I was born into a very music-savvy family.

Being into both of these mediums, I took note of the music in the shows that I used to watch and would hum it whenever I get the dialogue from an episode stuck in my head. However, I never really thought about who composed the music or where it came from. Back then, I naively assumed that those tracks I heard were made for the shows and weren't licensed from any production music libraries. This made me all the more confused when I heard the same tracks being used in both Ren & Stimpy and SpongeBob, which made me think that SpongeBob stole its music from Ren & Stimpy as a kid.

In 2018, I found out about a lot of the tracks that were used SpongeBob and Ren & Stimpy through uploads of them on YouTube. Shortly after, I found out about Allen J.'s SpongeBob SquarePants Music Identification Blog (which has been deleted, unfortunately) and Ren & Stimpy Music Identification Blog (Formerly Ian Lueck's blog), jakex's KaBlam! Music Identification Blog (also deleted, ugh), and gympartnermusic's My Gym Partner's a Monkey Music Identification Blog. That was when I formed an interest in the production music used in shows and movies. I even helped Allen J. identify some tracks for his blogs.

Around 2015-2016, I would find out about Camp Lazlo some time after I discovered Rocko's Modern Life, since both shows were created by Joe Murray. I admittedly didn't grow up watching either of them, but I developed a likeness for them in my teen years after watching them for the first time.

In 2016, I learned about the promotional VHS tapes that Nintendo released during the 90s and early 2000s thanks to the opening segment of SomecallmeJohnny's Star Fox 64 review. I recognized "Caped Crusader" by David Farnon, which used to be used as the main theme for Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy in SpongeBob, playing in the video. Back then, I still didn't know anything about the music libraries these shows and projects used, so I was still confused over why these same tracks were playing in separate media pieces.

During the time I started to develop an interest in production music, as well as music composition, I got inspired by all the music identification blogs that I discovered to start my own for Camp Lazlo in 2019 and one for the Nintendo VHS tapes in 2023. (I also plan on releasing more in the future).

So now here we are.
Feel free to comment on this page if you have new track info or if you want to ask me any questions.

Thank you for checking out my blogs. Have a nice day.
